By tradition the ROADPOL Safety Days will be carried out from 16th to 22nd of Septembern intentionally coinciding with the European Commission's European Mobility Week. The vision of the campaign is to promote ROADPOL's values of road traffic enforcement and cross-border police collaboration as key approaches to enhancing Road Safety in Europe. The mission of the campaign is to reduce the number of road fatalities in Europe which is now an average of 70 people per day with an objective to reduce this number to ZERO for at least one single day.
Last year 16 European countries recorded ZERO traffic fatalities on the main action day of the campaign. The total number of people killed in traffic on that day was 34, the lowest level in years. Despite the COVID pandemic, 336 events were held in 18 European countries.
The strategy of the ROADPOL Safety Days includes numerous road traffic enforcement activities across Europe as well as police forces direct engagement with the public and advocacy to road users. Public and private institutions, national and international, as well as road safety NGOs and educational institutions are all encouraged to support the campaign by organizing events to promote its messages to the broader public under the slogan:
Stay alive and save lives!
