On September 16-22, 2020 policemen from Piotrków are carrying out activities as part of an action that takes place in all European countries. ZERO VISION - zero fatalities in road accidents, is the main goal of ROAD SAFETY DAYS activities. Police officers conduct control and preventive actions aimed at both motorized road users and pedestrians and cyclists.
Road Safety Days are activities of the Traffic Police and other entities in the field of road safety, aimed at pursuing the assumptions consistent with the ZERO VISION - zero fatalities in road accidents. The key to improving road safety is to a large extent changing the behavior of road users. As part of efforts to improve the safety of road users, on September 18, 2020, Piotrków police paid particular attention to the speed at which drivers move, but not only. They also checked whether the drivers and passengers had their seat belts fastened, whether children were transported in child seats, the technical condition of the vehicles, and the sobriety of the drivers. They also took intensified action against vunerable road users. The uniformed talked with cyclists and pedestrians about their use of reflective elements. Policemen reminded that a road user should be aware that she/he may be unnoticed on the road by another road user. Thus, the way of moving on the road should be adapted to traffic conditions, reducing the risk of an accident. Officers handed out reflective vests and armbands provided by the Piotrkowski Regional Branch of the Provincial Road Traffic Center in Łódź. In the area of poviat roads, during the preventive and educational campaign, thanks to the support of the Poviat Starosty in Piotrków Trybunalski, pedestrians and cyclists received reflective vests.
